VSOF Inaugural Community Winter Warm-up November 5-9

Get out, get moving, and to try something new!
Summit and Eagle County Winter Warm-up is a Vail-Summit Orthopaedic Foundation initiative that encourages the local community to get ready for winter while supporting a worthy cause.
A donation of $10 to Vail Summit Orthopaedic Foundation gets you a week-long pass to attend free of charge any of the classes listed on the Winter Warm-up Calendar November 5-9, 2018.
While you are out there testing your body’s limits and getting your heart racing while trying out a new class at one of our Winter Warm-up partner facilities, remember Vail-Summit Orthopaedic Foundation’s clinical research department conducts orthopaedic clinical trials in such sub-specialties as hand, foot, ankle, knee, hip, spine, elbow, shoulder, and sports medicine. This research helps patients recover faster from injury and improves the quality of life for those suffering from acute or chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
*Vail Summit Orthopaedic Foundation (VSOF) is a 501(c)(3) founded in 2013 by the surgeons at Vail Summit Orthopedics. Their mission is to improve care of patients with musculoskeletal disorders through research, outreach, and education. By supporting VSOF, you ensure continuing medical education and research is conducted in support of accelerating recovery time and further understanding musculoskeletal disorders.
Quick Facts about Musculoskeletal Disorders:
- Musculoskeletal disorders affect nearly 1 out of every 2 adults in the U.S.
- Musculoskeletal disorders include arthritis, conditions of the spine (e.g., low back/neck pain), spinal deformity (e.g., scoliosis), Osteoporosis, cancers of the bone and connective tissue, musculoskeletal injuries.
- Children and adolescents: are affected by trauma, sports injuries, and deformities. Among children and adolescents, musculoskeletal conditions are surpassed only by respiratory infections as a cause of missed school days.
- Working-age adults: musculoskeletal disorders interfere with work. In 2012, 25.5 million people lost an average of 11.4 days of work due to back or neck pain.
- Older adults: musculoskeletal disorders become particularly burdensome for older people, often causing a downward health spiral that is difficult to reverse. Two-thirds of those with hip fractures do not return to their pre-fracture levels of functioning.
- Vail Summit Orthopedic Foundation’s mission is to lead and help fund research to diminish the effects of musculoskeletal disorders in our community and across the world.
